  1. If your kids enjoy traveling and learning about new places, reading travel guides together is one interesting way you can learn about a new area and plan a possible trip. Even if you never plan to leave the confines of your home, tour guides often give you a deep glimpse into what life is like in a certain area and what sorts of things you can expect to see in a way that is more interesting and thoughtful than a traditional history textbook.

Your Guide to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks (True North Series) is a spiral bound book that offers insights into these two parks. I like that this book is spiral bound since it’s easier to read, easier to keep my place, and I don’t have to worry about finding a bookmark at a moment’s notice.

This book is written from a Christian perspective, which, in this case, means that it discusses both young Earth and old Earth theories. I appreciated the fact that this book presents the idea that our planet may not be as old as some scientists suggest, while also discussing that nobody really knows for certain and that even highly educated scientists have very different opinions on how old or young the world is.

The pictures and images in this book are incredibly vibrant and interesting. Both of my kids really enjoyed just checking out and exploring the graphics in this book. There are a ton of fun facts sprinkled throughout this guide not only about the parks themselves, but about the animals that inhabit them.

Throughout this entire guide there are questions for your kids to think about. Older kids can have fun with these on their own, but my kids liked talking about the questions with me. Some of the questions were way too advanced for my kids, but it was easy to modify them for a younger level.

Finally this guide offers “Fast Facts” throughout the book where you can get a few of the basic facts without having to read everything in the chapter. If you’re just looking for basic information, the fast facts section is where you’ll want to check. If you want a more thorough understanding of Yellow Stone and Grand Teton, this book certainly offers this, as well, and discusses the history and scientific aspects of the park in addition to the fun things you can see while visiting.

  2. I was looking for a Yellowstone guide that would show ample evidence of Creation and the Biblical view of the flood. I was skeptical that this guide might turn out to have just a few pages of such. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find proof after proof on page after page of this colorful, easy to read guide. It definitely made me want to visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks with my husband and children so we can witness these evidences for ourselves.
