  1. Persuaded by the Evidence is a one of a kind collection of true stories by real people and how the evidence convinced each of them to a worldview of a six-day creation! I know. I was one of them! My story is a simple one, but one that is very real all the same. I was confronted with what I believed to be scientific arguments for evolution as I was growing up, by two older brothers who were really quite smarter than I. At that point in time, I really wasn’t sure how to answer their various questions regarding evolution. I gradually began learning the answers to those questions from places most would not perhaps be aware of. The origin of life has never been emperically demonstrated, and the facts of science are totally in favor of creation. I have found that those who believe otherwise to be irrational in their thinking process in one form or another and in most cases to accomodate their behavior and not be held accountable for their actions. You will find an interesting bunch of characters in the pages of this book and one I hope will bring you closer to looking at the world around us and comtemplate why things are the way they are. My two older brothers encouraged me to read some good evolution books and I did. I have read many evolution books through the years. I include very briefly in my story, the evidences that persuaded me to believe in creation and the evidences that convinced me of a six-day creation and a worldwide flood. I thank my two older brothers for sending me on this journey which has shaped who I am, my faith, and how all of this has changed my life. A special thanks to Henry. I never met him, but he was my mentor.

  2. Persuaded by the evidence is a collection of 37 short personal testimonies and two short biographies of persons (all male – could have included some women also) who came to believe in God’s six-day creation of the universe some thousands of years ago instead of 14 billions years ago. Those of A.E. Wilder-Smith and Mortimer Adler are biographical because they died before the book was published. Four of the testimonies were contributed by famous founders of the creation movement: Henry Morris, Duane Gish, Gary Parker, and Andrew Snelling. Perhaps Walt Brown’s testimony might have been included as a founder because of the enormous influence he has had. A vivid appreciation of the history of creationism and its influence on many different lives is gained by reading over these personal true stories. Each story is unique and amazing; the authors reference many specific books they read and courses they took at various universities and colleges that helped them in their search for truth. Reference is made to early books such as Alfred Rehwinkel’s 1957 The flood in the light of the Bible, geology and archaeology, James Coppedge’s 1973 Evolution: Possible or impossible, some written by Mortimer Adler, Kelly Seagraves and Robert Kofahl; and of course, many refer to John Whitcomb and Henry Morris’s The Genesis flood. This collection of stories is very valuable to any person interested in studying the creation/evolution controversy to better understand the viewpoints of contributors and how they arrived at their perspectives and beliefs. Quite a few pointed to sensing being indoctrinated into Darwinism by the education system and feeling as if they were alone in seeing flaws in ideas about evolution before they discovered others questioning evolution. A number noted anger and animosity of evolutionists toward questioning their ideas. There is a discussion by quite a few of similar struggles pondering 1) good and evil, and 2)the improbability scripturally of death occurring before sin as would have to occur for evolution to be true. Some experienced abandoning Christianity in childhood and of later embracing it as it was found to be verified by science. Some noted particular verses of the Bible that challenged their thinking as they pursued their search. All in all, this book is highly recommended for anyone interested in determining what the Bible has to say about origins of the universe.
