Evolution On The Silver Screen
We are all influenced by what we hear, read, and see. When this information is presented in an emotional “story format,” it can become the very foundation for our thinking. This is why the parables of Jesus are so powerful.
This is also why the most influential teaching pulpit of today is cinema. Whether it is blockbusters, like X-men or Jurassic Park, which use evolution as a foundational basis for the movie’s plot; adventures like Mission To Mars, Planet Of The Apes, or Mission Impossible 4, which place evolution at the climax of the film; historical films, like Gettysburg, which refer to evolution in passing; children’s films, like The Incredible Mr. Limpet, in which the central hero is transformed by his belief in evolution; or dramas, like like I-Robot or Gone Fishing, which refer to evolution out of the blue… hundreds of Hollywood films either overtly or subtly promote evolution as a fact.
Evolution On The Silver Screen DVD groups together movies spanning 70 years of cinema into categorical montages, followed by short examples of what actual scientific observation and Biblical principles reveal about the topic of evolution.
After viewing how pervasively movie entertainment is permeated with evolutionary concepts, it is apparent why so many people simply accept it as a fact. Both entertaining and disturbing, this presentation is a wake-up call to be careful what unfiltered ideas we allow to influence our thinking.
