Mutations: Helpful or Harmful?

Mutations are thought to be the engine of evolution, and natural selection must choose the best of them to create more complex organisms. But is that really how it works? Dr. Kevin Anderson received his Ph.D. in microbiology. He taught graduate-level molecular biology and cell biology and has published numerous articles in technical journals. Dr. Anderson is also the co-director of the Creation Research Society’s eKINDS project – a project investigating mechanisms for rapid speciation and diversification within a Biblical creation model.

In a day where genetic modifications and manipulations (which are simply different names for mutations) are touted as beneficial for mankind, this video was eye opening. I really liked the example of a so-called beneficial mutation like sickle-cell anemia. It’s great you may not die from malaria, but the change in the genes has the potential to kill you. There’s no benefit to that kind of mutation. Very thought-provoking DVD. You know, God created in our genetic code everything we would need to adapt to the new, harsh environment (heat, cold, disease etcetera) that the curse of sin would cause. We don’t need “change” or “added information” to make us better, “more evolved”. We’re already fearfully and wonderfully made. You can’t improve upon that. Excellent video.
